Giants Prospects Have Strong Showing at U-17 Camp

The Vancouver Giants would like to congratulate Tyler Benson, Ryely McKinstry, Matt Barberis and Ryan Kubic on a strong showing at the Hockey Canada Under-17 Development Camp this past week in Calgary.

Benson played for Team Green at the camp, scoring two goals in three intrasquad games as his team went 1-2. Barberis was also on Team Green.

McKinstry suited up for Team White and had a very strong camp, tallying two goals and one assist from the blue line as his team went 3-0.

Kubic played in goal for Team Red, posting a 3.10 goals against average and a .871 save percentage in 77:29 of ice time over three games. Team Red was 1-2.

108 players from across the country attended the camp, and 66 players will be selected to represent Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge from November 2-8 in Sarnia, Ontario. For the first time, the tournament will feature three Canadian national teams as opposed to the previous format where Canada iced five regional squads.
