The Giants fell to 0-3-0-1 against the US division in front of 5,828 fans at the Pacific Coliseum, losing to the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-3 in a shootout.
The Giants struck first as Brendan Gallagher potted his team high 9th goal of the season, but the Thunderbirds would quickly answer back just :52 later as Burke Gallimore tipped home his 5th of the season on the power play. Gallimore would add his second power play marker of the game at 14:16 of the period to make it 2-1 for the visitors. Vancouver though would strike back before the period was out as forward Greg Lamoureux netted his 1st of the season, making it 2-2 through 20 minutes of play.
The highlight of the second period was a tilt between Wes Vannieuwenhuizen and Jacob Doty. Both benches receiving an emotional spark from the toe to toe dance. The period remained without a goal until the 18:58 mark when Gallagher scored his 2nd of the game and 10th of the season, sending the Giants to the third period with a 3-2 lead.
In the third period the T-Birds knotted the contest up once again as Colin Jacobs found the back of the net at 5:22 of the period making it a 3-3 game, but that was it for the scoring as the game would need extra time.
After a scoreless overtime the game headed to a shootout where the Seattle Thunderbirds prevailed scoring on two of their three attempts. Craig Cunningham scored for Vancouver, while Gallagher and James Henry were denied. Seattle got goals from Burke Gallimore and the eventual winner from Luke Lockhart. Marcel Noebels was stopped by Mark Segal. The Thunderbirds improved to 3-0 in the shootout this year beating Vancouver 4-3.
The Giants next game is tomorrow night in Chilliwack. Game time is 7:00pm. Pregame show starts at 6:30pm on AM 650.
