In their one and only meeting of the season, the Prince Albert Raiders came into the Pacific Coliseum and walked away with 2 points, defeating the Giants 5-3. Vancouver was playing catch up all night and eventually ran out of time.
Prince Albert took the lead in the first after a goal by James Bettauer. 14 seconds later Sebastian Svendsen put another one on the board for the Raiders to give them a 2-0 lead. Before the period was out, the Giants would manage to cut into the lead as Michael Burns scored his first of the season. Vancouver trailed 2-1 after one period.
In the second the Raiders added to their lead as Igor Revenko tipped home a Ryan Button shot to make it 3-1 through 40 minutes.
Just 32 seconds into the third period Justin Maylan made it a three goal lead for the visitors, scoring his 2nd of the season. However, the Giants would not go away. Neil Manning scored on the power play, then Craig Cunningham followed up with his on goal to get Vancouver within one with just over 10 minutes to play. Prince Albert though would salt it away, as Revenko scored his second of the game on the power play. The Giants fell to the Raiders 5-3.
Vancouver Giants is back in action Friday October 15th when they welcome the Seattle Thunderbirds to town. Puck drop is at 7:30pm, Pregame show begins at 7:00pm on AM 650.
