Giant Helpers

By Philip Raphael – South Delta Leader

There’s something to be said for star power when it’s sprinkled over peers.

South Delta Secondary school teacher Sandra Adamson says thanks in good part to the efforts of a pair of Vancouver Giants players, the students in her Evergreen Program have benefitted greatly. So has the role of peer tutoring.

What the two Giants—first year centreman Cain Franson from Sycamous and 18-year-old left winger Connor Redmond from Maple Ridge—have done is spend time through the week helping learning disabled students.

“They certainly have helped make peer tutoring cool,” said Adamson, adding that Franson and Redmond, as well as other students helping out in the class as peer tutors, make great connections with the learning disabled students who are working on attaining their Evergreen Certificates for completing secondary school.
