Congratulations to former Giant Evander Kane, who today accepted an invitation to represent Canada at the upcoming IIHF World Championships in Slovakia. The 19 year old just finished his 2nd season in the NHL with the Atlanta Thrashers, picking up 19 goals, 24 assists, and 43 points in 73 games. It is the 2nd straight year Kane will play for his country at the World Championships. Last year he had 2 goals, 2 assists, and 4 points in 7 games as Canada finished a disappointing 7th place.
This year’s event is being held in Bratislava and Kosice, Slovakia. The tournament opens April 29th with the gold medal being handed out May 15th. Kane and Team Canada hit the ice for their first game April 29th vs. Belarus.
