Vancouver Giants Community Partner Profile: Mutual Fire Insurance

To kick off a new week, the Vancouver Giants are thrilled to showcase their partnership with The Mutual Fire Insurance Company of British Columbia. For the past two seasons, the Giants have proudly partnered with Mutual Fire Insurance. Here is a Q & A with Mutual Fire Insurance Vice President, Business Development Christine Young CIP, CAIB.

1) Tell us about the “mission” of your business as it pertains to your customers and the community organizations that you sponsor and support?

Mutual Fire Insurance has a longstanding tradition of supporting charities, organizations, and events in the communities we serve. Our community mission is to support people and every year we make contributions through partnerships, donations, and gifts-in-kind to many worthwhile causes sharing the same vision. Organizations like youth programs, hospices, recovery centres, health and wellness initiatives, and of course, the Vancouver Giants, fortify and enrich our communities! It means so much to us at MFI to give back.

2) How long have you been partnering with the Vancouver Giants? Why is this partnership important to you?

Mutual Fire Insurance has partnered with the Vancouver Giants for two years now. It’s an important relationship for us as we are able to connect and engage with people in the Fraser Valley and reward our partners with game day tickets.

3) Do you have a favourite Vancouver Giants player/memory?

It’s difficult to choose; however, one of our favourite memories was attending The Legends Weekend and sharing the company of Hockey Hall of Fame members, Mike Bossy, Marcel Dionne, Dale Hawwerchuk, Mark Howe, Guy Lafleur and Bernie Parent!

4) What do you want your customers/our fans to know about the current state of your business?

Leaning on our mutual history, we embraced the unprecedented changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and organized our staff to work from home. It’s been a smooth transition from 100% in-office to a combination of office and remote work which couldn’t have happened without our incredible employees. We continue to protect our policyholders and provide insurance services to them through our broker partner network. Knowing the financial strain put on many, and keeping in step with our organization’s core value of community, MFI donated to several food banks across BC.
