Giants Select Jonathan Iilahti In CHL Import Draft

The Vancouver Giants selected goaltender Jonathan Iilahti with the 39th pick in the 2011 CHL Import Draft. The 19 year old from Vaasa, Finland played last season for the Espoo Jr. Blues. The Vancouver Canucks selected him in the 6th round, 175th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

“We are excited to have a player of Jonathan’s caliber join our organization,” said Executive Vice-President and General Manager Scott Bonner. “By all accounts he is a high end goaltender. The combination of him and Brendan Jensen will give us a top notch tandem. We look forward to working with the Vancouver Canucks in planning his arrival to the city.”

Iilahti is expected to be in Vancouver next week to take part in the Canucks develpment camp.
