The 11th season of Vancouver Giants hockey promises to be an exciting one for hockey fans both young and old. Our promotional schedule is loading with favourties like Teddy Bear Toss and Celebrity Dash for Cash, plus we'll honour some of the greatest stars in the game and add to Ring of Honour with more Giant Alumni Nights! Friday, September 23 - Home Opener
Our Highway 1 rivalry has gotten a little longer, with the Chilliwack Bruins relocating to Victoria and becoming the Royals. But while the jerseys will be different, the players are the same, so expect this heated rivalry to continue as the Royals play their first ever game to our open our 2011/2012 home schedule. PLUS all game tickets will grant you FREE ADMISSION TO PLAYLAND after 3pm the following day (Sat Sept 24) and the first 5,000 fans through the doors will receive a limited edition poster of Milan Lucic celebrating both his Memorial Cup and Stanley Cup victories atop Grouse Mountain! One of the most popular events on our schedule is back for another year! With the second incarnation of Empire Field now complete, the first game of our 'Legends Series' will honour some of the greatest moments and personalities in the storied history of Hastings Park. Friday, December 9 - Teddy Bear Toss
It's the event you'll be talking about for weeks - the Giants' Annual Teddy Bear Toss! We encourage you to bring a new teddy bear to the game (or buy one on the concourse with proceeds going to charity). Then, when the Giants score their first goal of the night - THROW THEM ON THE ICE!!! We'll collect all the stuffed animals and donate them to local childrens charities in time for Christmas. Friday, February 17 - Giant Alumni Night: Cody Franson
Tonight's honouree started his junior career as a list player for the Giants. Little did we know that the lanky young kid from Sicamous would turn into one of the best defenseman in Giants history en route to becoming a promising young d-man in the NHL. After beginning his career in Nashville, Cody Franson now mans the blueline for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and is sure to become a household name for Canadian hockey fans. He was part of both our 2006 WHL Championship and 2007 Memorial Cup Championship teams, and tonight he'll take his place in our 'Ring of Honour' alongside last season's inductees in a special pre-game ceremony. Every fan will receive a scratch card when entering the rink, which will reveal if you get to take home one of 500 limited edition Cody Franson bobbleheads! Following the path of Gilbert Brule and Milan Lucic - two other local boys who became some of greatest Giants ever - Evander Kane enjoyed a meteoric rise to stardom that delivered him to the NHL far earlier than anyone anticipated. He's a 2007 Memorial Cup Champion and current star for the Winnipeg Jets, and tonight he'll become the 7th inductee to our 'Ring of Honour'. We'll continue our Giant Alumni Night tradition by giving away 900 Evander Kane bobbleheads - once again, every fan entering the rink will receive a scratch card revealing whether or not you are a winner.
