Hockey School 2013

The Vancouver Giants are now taking registrations for our 2013 Hockey School.
It will feature instruction from Vancouver Giants' Head Coach Don Hay, Assistant Coach Glen Hanlon, and Goalie Coach Paul Fricker, as well as South Delta Minor Hockey Head Coach Lawson Boutilier, and Vancouver Canucks Power Skating Coach Barb Aidelbaum and staff. There will also be current and former Vancouver Giants players to assist the instructors.

VANCOUVER GIANTS HOCKEY SCHOOL
The Vancouver Giants are proud to once again host the Vancouver Giants Hockey School at the Ladner Leisure Centre from August 12 through 16, 2013 for boys and girls in H1/H2, H3/H4, Atom, Pee Wee, and a WHL Prep camp for Bantam. There will also be a Goalie School which will run from August 7 through 10, 2013.
The Vancouver Giants Hockey School is a high tempo camp designed to help improve each player's game. In order for players to get the hands on learning and individual attention, the camp will have a 5:1 ratio (5 kids to 1 coach).

The session will feature fun small competitive games and also teach players primary puck control and proper hockey stance and linear striding.
Cost: $125 plus tax

Players will be placed in their appropriate skill group to maximize our teaching efficiency, during the one hour sessions, working on individual skill and individual game tactics. Players that are rep caliber or are training to make rep teams will be pushed to take their game to the next level. The second ice session of the day will consist of power skating lessons taught from renowned power skating Coach Barb Aidelbaum and staff, who has trained many National Hockey League players and currently works for the Vancouver Canucks.

On-Ice Programs
Two ice sessions per day will be provided which will include power skating during afternoon sessions. Other emphasized skills will include stick handling, passing and receiving, shooting, communicating, and checking for those of age
Off-Ice Programs
Off ice instruction will include detailed training techniques, nutrition, and the importance of stretching. Participants will also be learning to respect teammates and coaches and understand the importance of being respectful.
There will be an introduction to core training, stretching, and nutrition, as well as off ice games related to hockey skills. Many of the activities will allow the participants to use the learned skills and information year round.
Dropping by will be guest speakers such as the local police who will help to encourage, educate, develop, grow, and stress the importance of making smart choices in both hockey and life.
Daily classroom sessions will feature instruction with fun and educational learning material related to hockey.
Each hockey school participant is asked to bring shorts, t-shirt and running shoes for off ice activities. A swimsuit for the pool time. Water bottle, sunscreen, lunch and any additional snacks that may be required.

WHL Prep Camp for Bantam (ages 13/14)
August 12 to 16, 2013 - 5:15pm to 6:45pm
Find out what it takes to play at the next level. Canada's U-18 Head Coach and four-time Memorial Cup winning Coach Don Hay will run Western Hockey League style practices for 1.5 hours each day.
Cost: $300 plus tax

Goalies - Group A: New/House Level Goalies (ages 8-11)
August 7 to 10, 2013 - 3:30pm to 5:45pm
These goalie sessions will feature both on and off ice skill development for young goalies. They will be taught the basics and fundamentals of being a goalie. The goalies will get 1 hour of ice time per day with Vancouver Giants' Goalie Coach Paul Fricker and a 45 minute off-ice skills development session.
Cost: $250 plus tax

Goalies - Group B: Advanced/Rep Caliber Goalies (ages 12-16)
August 7 to 10, 2013 - 3:30pm to 7:30pm
These goalie sessions will not only teach goalies on-ice skills that include battle and speed but also off-ice skills such as self-standards and work ethic. The Advanced/Rep Caliber goalies will have 1.5 hour on ice sessions each day with Vancouver Giants' Goalie Coach Paul Fricker. In addition to the ice time, the goalies will also have two 45 minute off-ice sessions, one for skills development and the other for strength and conditioning.
Cost: $425 plus tax
**All Goalies have the opportunity to register to participate in the Vancouver Giants Hockey School skates (August 12 - 16) at no extra charge. Limited spots available.**
