Giants Fall 5-2 to Saskatoon

The Giants gave up three goals in the third period to drop a 5-2 decision to the Saskatoon Blades Sunday night at the Pacific Coliseum.

The Saskatoon Blades got two goals in the first from Shane McColgan and Matej Stransky to put them up 2-0.

Vancouver’s Trevor Cheek scored on the powerplay to put the Giants within one, and before the first was over, Anthony Ast scored to tie the game at 2.  

The second period saw no scoring from either team.

The third period saw Dalton Sward drop the gloves with Brett Lernout.

Saskatoon’s Nick Zajac scored midway through the third to put the Blades up 3-2 and Stransky got his second of the game on the powerplay. Saskatoon sealed the deal on a goal from Duncan Siemens just 12 seconds later to take the game 5-2.

Giants’ goalie Tyler Fuhr made 29 saves and the Giants went 1/3 on the powerplay.
