The Vancouver Giants would like to congratulate Head Coach Don Hay on being named Team Canada’s Head Coach for the 2013 IIHF World Under-18 Championship taking place April 18-28 in Sochi, Russia.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity” says Hay in regards to donning Canadian colours once again. “I’ve had good experiences working for Team Canada, so when this came up I was really eager and excited to accept it.”

Hay, who has coached three Memorial Cup winning teams (1994 & 1995 Kamloops, 2007 Vancouver), has also led Team Canada to a gold medal at the 1995 U-20 Championships and a bronze at the 2012 U-20 Championships.

The Kamloops native just finished his 9th season behind the Giants bench and coached his 1,000th regular season WHL game in the season finale against the Kelowna Rockets.
