Popowich and Canada Black to Face Finland in U17 Quarters

Vancouver Giants forward Tyler Popowich and Team Canada Black will face Finland in the quarterfinals at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge on Thursday. Face-off is scheduled for 4:30pm.

Canada Black finished atop Group A after going 2-1 in the preliminary round. Popowich and his teammates defeated the Czech Republic and the USA while losing to Team Canada White.

Popowich, who was drafted third overall by the Giants in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft, has one assist and two penalty minutes through three games at the tournament. The Surrey native has played 10 games for the Giants this season. It’s his rookie year in the WHL.
