Miner to Attend Hockey Canada Camp

The Vancouver Giants would like to congratulate prospect goaltender Trent Miner on being invited to Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence Goaltending Camp. The camp will take place in Calgary from June 9-11.

Miner is one of 16 goalies who will attend the National Under-17 Development Camp while Hockey Canada will also be holding Under-18 and Under-20 camps in Calgary at the same time.

“For the past 11 years, this goaltending camp has allowed us to monitor, evaluate and continue to develop elite-level players in a short amount of time,” said Scott Salmond, Hockey Canada’s vice-president of hockey operations and men’s national teams, in a statement. “Some players have just ended their seasons, but the opportunity to scout them all season and through this camp, we’re able to look ahead and plan for our development and selection camps with the talent we have.”

Miner, a Brandon, Manitoba product, was drafted by the Giants with the 20th overall pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. The 16-year-old netminder posted a 2.64 goals against average and a 0.911 save percentage in 25 games with the Brandon Wheat Kings Midget AAA team in 2016/17.
