The Vancouver Giants will look to make it three consecutive victories at home Saturday when they welcome the Kootenay Ice to town for White Spot Legends Night.
To help celebrate Legends Night, the Giants will have the Memorial Cup trophy on display and fans will be invited to get their photo taken with the trophy along with 2007 Giants Memorial Cup champions Tyson Sexsmith and Kenndal McArdle.
The Giants guest of honor Saturday is the late Gordie Howe’s son Dr. Murray Howe. Dr. Howe will participate in a pre-game hot stove interview in the Langley Events Centre banquet hall from 6:00 PM – 6:45 PM and will no doubt share some incredible stories about his father Mr. Hockey. Other notable guests for Saturday’s hot stove are: TSN Radio host Don Taylor, long-time Vancouver TV personality John McKeachie and Vancouver Canucks alumnus Dennis Kearns.
“There will be plenty of great stories shared on Saturday and we’re excited to welcome Dr. Howe and members of our 2007 Memorial Cup championship team back to the Langley Events Centre,” said Giants Senior Vice President, Dale Saip. “The best way that we can honor the legacy of the late Gordie Howe is through stories and fans won’t want to miss our hot-stove interview or the chance to get up close to the Memorial Cup trophy.”
Copies of Dr. Howe’s book “Nine Lessons I Learned From My Father” will also be available for purchase at Saturday’s game.
