BLACK 3 – GRAY 2 (Game #5 Recap)

Special teams found their groove in the middle game of the day Saturday as Team Black edged Team White 3-2. The teams combined for four power play goals in the first half of the game and 20-year-old Jack Flaman would snag the game winner in the waning minutes of the second half to give Black their third straight victory.

Five minutes into the first period Gray got on the board when Darian Skeoch snapped home his second of the weekend from the blueline. Skeoch’s goal had the distinction of being the first power play goal of the day.

With less than a minute remaining in Gray’s power play time, they struck again when 2000-born forward Tyler Ho snuck into the slot and quickly one-timed home a pass from the right corner and past Trent Miner. Gray led 2-0 halfway through the first half.

Back came Black though with some fireworks of their own. Dylan Plouffe roofed his third of the weekend up and over the shoulder of Jacob Wassermann to make the game 2-1. That goal gave Plouffe the goal scoring lead the for the weekend.

Jack Flaman then notted the game at two when he one-timed home a perfect cross-ice feed from James Malm. Malm was skating down the left wing and saucered a pass perfectly through a maze of sticks and right onto the tape of Flaman who did the rest.

The first half of the game ended with the game tied 2-2.

The final 30 minutes would only yield one goal and again it was 20-year-old Jack Flaman who found himself at the right place at the right time. The veteran’s second goal of the game came with 11 minutes remaining, and that would be all Black would need to seal the victory. With the win Black finished the weekend 3-1 and have guaranteed themselves the best record of the three teams.

Team Gray returns to action at 3:00 PM against Team White in a battle of 1-2 clubs.
